Cisco ASA Hacked – Proactive Maintenance Required
IT News Australia reports…”Network vendor Cisco is urging customers to patch their Adaptive Security Appliance firewalls as soon as possible, after discovering a serious vulnerability is currently being exploited by hackers.”
It’s a reminder of the importance of a structured patching programme to include all infrastructure, including firewalls, hypervisors and network infrastructure. No piece of technology is unable to be hacked and if it’s connected to your important networks, you are vulnerable.
The important step to take is to have an expert who can ensure your technology is as up-to-date as possible to defeat attacks while at the same time tuned to permit your everyday business to function efficiently.
This kind of proactive maintenance and network design is what is included in Managed Services contracts.
As a sidenote of some interest, IT Vendor Kaspersky provides a visual display of its software recording attacks across the world. It’s an amazing map, even with the limited detail on offer.
